Striker Marcus has earned plaudits as the “complete forward” after his match-winning display for Inter Milan against Roma yesterday evening.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, named the 26-year-old as man of the match in the Serie A clash.

Inter controlled much of possession in yesterday’s match.

However, the Nerazzurri came up against a determined and organized Roma defense.

Therefore, the question was always going to be whether Inter could find an incisive and penetrating influence from their forwards.

And Thuram was the player who looked to be Inter’s main source of danger all evening long.

The Frenchman’s movement, agility, and acceleration caused problems for an otherwise dolid-looking Giallorossi back three.

Marcus Thuram The “Complete Forward” For Inter Vs Roma

Thuram’s position is not in any doubt at Inter – the former Borussia Monchengladbach man is a striker.

But the Nerazzurri have been getting the best out of the fact that striker isn’t the only role that Thuram is capable of playing.

The Frenchman has played a good chunk of his career.

Thuram’s versatility was always on show as he played as part of a fairly fluid Gladbach attack.

And at Inter, it’s been a similar story. Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have made for a strike partnership with plenty of movement and interchange.

And Thuram’s comfort in wide areas and dropping deeper into midfield to run at defenders was a key facet to Inter’s play against Roma in yesterday evening’s Serie A clash.

But that is not to say that the Frenchman lacked incisive influence in the penalty area.

Quite the opposite, it was Thuram who broke the deadlock in the closing stages of the match.

The 26-year-old is not only a versatile player. He is also a striker with real goalscoring instincts and a clinical edge.

For the Gazzetta, this was evidence that Inter’s number nine is nothing less than a complete forward.
