Inter Milan already have contract extension talks with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Denzel Dumfries, and Federico Dimarco underway.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Off the pitch, the autumn is often the time when clubs tend to sort out the contract situations of players in their squad.
With the transfer window closed, dealing with contract extension negotiations is they key matter to attend to in terms of squad planning.
And for Inter, there is no shortage of situations that the club are attending to.
There is Lautaro Martinez for one. The Nerazzurri are keen to wrap up their captain’s future with a new five-year deal.
But Martinez is not the only player who Inter are keen to start contract talks with.
In fact, Tuttosport report, there are three players whose representatives Inter have already started talks with.
Inter Have Already Begun Contract Talks With Mkhitaryan, Dumfries & Dimarco
The situation of midfielder Mkhitaryan is naturally one of the most pressing for Inter.
The reason is that the Armenian former Roma and Arsenal midfielder’s deal runs out at the end of next June.
But Inter don’t want to get anywhere near the expiration of Mkhitaryan’s contract without having secured his future.
At the moment Mkhitaryan is in a similar situation that Ivan Perisic was in his final season at Inter.
The 34-year-old remains an absolutely vital player for Simone Inzaghi’s team. He is virtually the first name on the teamsheet, starting the majority of the Nerazzurri’s matches this season.
Therefore, Inter are already in talks to get Mkhitaryan on a new deal.
On the other hand, neither Dumfries or Dimarco are out of contract at the end of next June.
The Dutchman’s deal expires at the end of June 2025. And for the Italian it is June 2026.
But the two wingbacks are clearly important players in Inzaghi’s system.
Inter want to lock down the pair’s future. As such, Tuttosport report that contract talks with both wingbacks’ representatives have already begun.
