Inter Milan are reportedly contemplating moves for Tomas Soucek and Andrea Colpani as they look to bolster their defenses.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri may need a sixth midfielder by the end of the season.

As the source explains, Stefano Sensi is running on an expiring contract. The same goes for summer signing Davy Klaassen who signed a one-year deal on deadline day.

With neither player cementing himself as a regular feature in Simone Inzaghi’s squad, the club could allow them to leave and bring in a new midfielder.

The Turin-based newspaper claims the Nerazzurri are monitoring two options at the moment.

The first is West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek. The 28-year-old has been a stalwart for the Hammers in recent years.

But while his contract will expire at the end of the season, West Ham can unilaterally renew it. Therefore, the Nerazzurri are unlikely to sign him on a free transfer.

The alternative option for Inter is Colpani who’s enjoying a brilliant start of the campaign with Monza. He has already netted five goals this season.

The 24-year-old’s goalscoring prowess renders him an intriguing prospect. However, he might prove to be costly.

As the source explains, therefore, the two players represent two different profiles. While Soucek is physically stronger, Colpani plays in a higher position, mostly as an attacking midfielder.

The report adds that the Nerazzurri could be willing to offer Monza two of their youngsters as exchange bargains.

The first is 21-year-old attacking midfielder Gaetano Oristanio (currently on loan at Cagliari), while the second is 18-year-old striker Francesco Pio Esposito (on loan at Spezia).
