Inter Milan and Juventus will reportedly duel for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski as his contract’s deadline looms closer.

The 29-year-old has been a mainstay in the Southern Italian club since making the transfer from Udinese back in the summer of 2016.

The Pole has established himself as a pillar at the Maradona Stadium ever since. He won the Coppa Italia in 2020 and, more famously, the Scudetto title last season.

However, the midfielder’s expiring deal suggests that this could be his final campaign with the reigning Italian champions.

So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Inter Milan and Juventus are looking to pounce on the situation and poach the player’s services on a free transfer next summer.

As the source tells it, Zielinski had offers from the Saudi Pro League in the summer. However, he opted to stay at Napoli.

But unless the parties sign a contract renewal at some point during the season, they will be parting ways in June.

The report believes Inter CEO Beppe Marotta could add Zielinski to his prestigious list of free agent signings.

Inter Milan And Juventus Will Be Dueling For The Services Of Napoli Star Piotr Zielinski

However, the Nerazzurri are facing stern competition from Juventus and their director of football Cristiano Giuntoli.

The latter was the one who brought the Polish international to Napoli in the first place.

Moreover, the Bianconeri are currently suffering from a shortage in the middle of the park. Max Allegri has lost the services of Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli. Both players are now suspended for different reasons.

Thus, Juventus could be desperate to secure the services of quality players, with Zielinski reportedly on the shortlist.
