Wingback Federico Dimarco feels that his focus is on getting results for Inter Milan, and not on his own personal achievements.
The 25-year-old spoke to InterTV ahead of this evening’s Serie A match against Atalanta, via FCInterNews.
This is Dimarco’s third season as a regular in the Inter first team.
Each of the last couple campaigns has seen significant personal growth for the Italian international.
Dimarco has turned into a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s team playing on the left flank.
This has led to plenty of acclaim on an individual.
Last season, Dimarco was included in UEFA’s team of the season for the Champions League. This was a reflection of how much the wingback contributed with his creative passing and deliveries into the box.
The Italian international has also become more and more of a regular for the Italian national tea.
In fact, Dimarco is arguably now the first-choice starter at left-back for the Azzurri.
But none of this has been about individual achievement for Dimarco. Rather, he says, he wants to help Inter get as far as they can.
Federico Dimarco: Focus On Inter, Not On Individual Achievements
Of his increasingly excellent form, Dimarco said that “I mainly just focus on the team.”
He added that “I focus on giving my best and bringing home results for the team.”
“Not the personal ones,” Dimarco explained.
Of this evening’s match away to Atalanta, the wingback said that “It will certainly be a tough match. Like all matches here in Bergamo.”
“We’ll have to give 120% but we want to bring home the result.”
And as far as what the wingbacks need to do to peg Atalanta back, Dimarco made clear that it’s “Not just us wingbacks.”
“We have to deny them time and space all over the pitch,” he went on.
“They play man to man all over the pitch, and it won’t be easy.”
“As I said before, we’ll have to give our all to bring home the result.”
