Inter Milan would only move for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski if Henrikh Mkhitaryan departs during next summer transfer window.

Italian news outlet FCInterNews outline the Nerazzurri’s transfer strategy regarding the out-of-contract Napoli midfielder.

Recent reports suggest that Inter have 29-year-old Polish international Zielinski in their sights.

The former Udinese and Empoli man’s contract with Napoli runs out at the end of next June.

Therefore, it would seem that Inter are sensing an opportunity.

Reportedly, the Nerazzurri are ready to make an offer to Zielinski. As are their Serie A rivals Juventus.

At the moment, Zielinski’s future at Napoli is uncertain due to his contract.

The Pole’s contract with the Italian champions runs out at the end of next June.

And according to FCIN, Inter’s interest in signing Zielinski is very real. But only on one condition.

Inter Interest In Zielinski Based On Future Of Mkhitaryan

Inter have their own key midfielder whose current contract runs out at the end of next June.

Former Arsenal and Roma veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s deal expires next summer.

Mkhitaryan remains a key player for the Nerazzurri. He is still very much a fixture in the starting eleven under Simone Inzaghi.

And by all accounts, Inter want to extend the 34-year-old’s deal.

But it is still far from certain that they will do so.

Mkhitaryan would also have an offer to consider from the Saudi Pro League, FCIN reports.

The Armenian could get a two-year deal worth €8 million net per season to move to the Gulf state. That is twice what he currently earns at Inter.

Considering that Mkhitaryan turns 35 this season, it could be something for him to consider.

Meanwhile, Inter only want to offer Mkhitaryan a one-year deal – potentially containing the option, but not a guarantee, of a further season.

And the Nerazzurri would only offer the former Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund man the same €4 million net per season that he currently earns.

If Mhitaryan does decide to leave Inter at the end of his deal, FCIN reports, Zielinski is the man the Nerazzurri have lined up to take his place.

The Pole has extensive Serie A experience. He has played in the Italian top flight for right around a decade, even winning the title last season.

And Zielinski earns around €4 million net per season at Napoli – right around what Mkhitaryan earns.

Therefore, if Mkhitaryan departs, Zielinski could prove to be a very natural replacement.
