Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is dedicating Inter Milan’s Serie A win over Atalanta to injured teammate Benjamin Pavard.

The 26-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the Nerazzurri beat La Dea 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table, via FCInterNews.

Inter got the result they were looking for at the Gewiss Arena this evening.

It was certainly not an easy match for the Nerazzurri.

For the second league match in a row, Inter travelled to a difficult stadium to face a team who pressed them aggressively and in an organized, man-to-man way.

Moreover, Inter lost a key man to injury during the first half, in the form of Benjamin Pavard.

But Pavard’s replacement Matteo Darmian managed to win the penalty from which the Nerazzurri took the lead, not long after coming on.

And then Inter captain Martinez scored the second with a brilliantly taken strike.

Inter conceded around the hour mark. Atalanta striker Gianluca Scamacca found the back of the net.

But in the end, Inter protected their advantage, and take three points back to Milan.

Of Pavard, Martinez said that “I want to dedicate the victory to him.”

“He arrived this season, and he’s giving us a big hand.”

“I hope it’s nothing really serious, and that we can see him back on the pitch soon,” he said of the Frenchman.

Of the possibility of his finishing as the top scorer in Serie A this season, Martinez said that “It’s important.”

“but I think about Inter first of all,” he continued.

The Nerazzurri captain made clear that “If I don’t score, I try to help out with assists and runs.”

Martinez added that “”I try to work and grow every day in every aspect.”

“I’m happy because Inter won, and that’s the most important thing.”
