Midfielder Nicolo Barella will start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A clash with Atalanta, whilst Davide Frattesi begins on the bench.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will likely be aiming to start what he sees as his strongest lineup this evening.

The Nerazzurri have had almost a full week to rest since last weekend’s win over Roma.

Therefore, it it not very likely that squad rotation will be foremost among Inzaghi’s concerns.

Rather, the 47-year-old will simply aim to select the team with the best chance of taking three points.

That is particularly the case given the difficulty of this evening’s fixture.

Inter travel to Bergamo to take on an Atalanta team who are currently fourth in the table. That is certainly no fluke, as La Dea have been one of Serie A’s form teams.

Atalanta have yet to concede a goal at home in the league this season.

Therefore, Inzaghi will know how tough it will be to take three points and ensure that Inter maintain their lead at the top of the Serie A table over Juventus and AC Milan.

Nicolo Barella To Start For Inter Vs Atalanta – Frattesi On The Bench

One key lineup decision that the Gazzetta report Inzaghi is certain of is in midfield.

Recent reports had suggested that former Sassuolo midfielder Frattesi could start.

It would basically be a run-off between two Italian internationals, with Frattesi tipped to start over Barella.

But according to the Gazzetta, Barella is the player Inzaghi has actually been preparing to start against Atalanta.

Meanwhile, in attack there are no doubts.

Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will be the two players to lead the line for the Nerazzurri against Gian Piero Gasperini’s men this evening.
