Defender Yann Bisseck could get his first start for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash with Red Bull Salzburg.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The newspaper reports that the German could take the place of Denzel Dumfries in the lineup, with Matteo Darmian starting at wingback.

The injury to defender Benjamin Pavard is looking like it will have reverberations around Inter’s squad.

The Frenchman is out for several weeks, meaning that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to cope with other defenders playing in his place.

Pavard’s main backup is former Manchester United and Torino veteran Matteo Darmian.

The 33-year-old showed over the weekend against Atalanta that he can ably stand in for Pavard.

But there is one problem: Darmian is also cover at right-wingback.

Why Yann Bisseck Could Get The Nod For Inter In Champions League Clash Vs Salzburg

According to FCIN, wingback Dumfries is dealing with some muscle fatigue.

The Dutchman has been a regular starter since the return from the October international break.

Ex-Juventus and Chelsea veteran Juan Cuadrado has been out. Therefore, the chances for Dumfries to get a breather have been limited.

But according to FCIN, the fatigue for the 27-year-old former PSV man is making Inzaghi consider resting him tomorrow against Salzburg.

And if Dumfries is out of the lineup, there would be little choice but to move Darmian back to right-wingback.

With Darmian playing higher up the pitch, Inzaghi would have to find a new solution on the right side of the back three with Pavard also out.

And according to FCIN, the coach has been testing Bisseck in the role in training.

The 22-year-old has yet to make a start for Inter. He has only played a handful of minutes off the bench.

But this could be the time for the Germany Under-21 international, who joined Inter from Aarhus in the summer.
