Wingback Juan Cuadrado is unlikely to remain at Inter Milan past the end of the season when his contract runs out.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Cuadrado made the shock move to Inter in the summer, joining on a free transfer after his contract with Juventus ran out.

The Colombian only signed a short-term deal. His contract runs until the end of next June.

Certainly, at the age of 35, Cuadrado is not exactly a player who Inter have brought in for the long term.

Both the ex-Bianconeri, Fiorentina, and Chelsea man’s undoubted quality and extensive Serie A experience made him an attractive target to bolster the squad on the right flank for Inter.

So far this season, however, that is not quite how it’s worked out for Cuadrado at Inter.

Juan Cuadrado Likely To Depart Inter At The End Of The Season

Over the first three matches of the season, Cuadrado did get on the pitch for Inter.

The 35-year-old played as a substitute in wins over Monza, Cagliari, and Fiorentina.

However, ever since then, the Colombian has been a bit-part player for the Nerazzurri.

The reason for this has been injury and fitness troubles.

Cuadrado picked up a tendon issue during the September international break.

And this has been a persistent problem for him ever since.

The 35-year-old has yet to make a single start for the Nerazzurr, and he has not even been in a mtachday squad since the return from the October international break.

Cuadrado is now aiming to be back to fitness for after the October break.

There are matches against his old club Juventus as well as Napoli on the horizon.

But already, the question marks about Cuadrado’s reliability have become glaring.

And whilst Inter did not pay a transfer fee to sign the Colombian, his wages are not inconsiderable.

Cuadrado earns €2.5 million net for the season. This works out to €4.65 million gross that Inter are spending to employ the 35-year-old.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri have little intention to offer the ex-Juventus wingback a contract extension as things stand.
