The San Siro will play host to over 70,000 spectators for this evening’s Serie A match between Inter Milan and Frosinone.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The match is not quite a sell-out, but the stadium will be at very close to capacity.
Over the past few seasons, fan support for Inter in home matches has surged.
The Nerazzurri have been the team with the highest attendance at home matches in Serie A For several campaigns.
That was the case last season. And it has been so far this time around.
Inter have hosted some marquee matches already in the league. There has been the Milan derby against AC Milan, which was nominally a Nerazzurri home fixture.
And Roma and Fiorentina are among the big Italian sides to have travelled to the San Siro to face Inter.
But those have not been the only matches to attract massive crowds.
San Siro Close To A Sell-Out For Inter Vs Frosinone Clash
Even in the matches against “smaller” teams the Inter supporters have tended to turn out in droves for Serie A matches at the San Siro.
This has come from the sense of anticipation that the team can win the title.
But even last campaign, as Inter endured a difficult and inconsistent run throughout the league season, the San Siro was regularly a packed house or close to it.
Certainly, the run to the Champions League final played a factor in this momentum.
And that has carried over to the start of this season.
Inter host newly-promoted Frosinone in their last match before the November international break.
The team have a chance to make it six wins from six between the October and November breaks.
And there will be no shortage of spectators in the stadium urging the Nerazzurri on.
FCIN report that there are still seats available. But not very many, as over 70,000 tickets have already been purchased.
