Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that Inter Milan must focus on themselves ahead of their Serie A clash with Juventus.

The 34-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the team beat Frosinone 2-1, via FCInterNews.

Inter face one of the biggest matches of their season just after the international break.

That was always going to be the case. The Derby d’Italia against Juventus is one of the showpiece occasions of Italian football, showcasing a bitter rivalry between two of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

But this time around, the significance of the match is even greater.

Inter and Juventus occupy the top two positions in the Serie A table.

The gap between the pair is just two points.

That means that the Bianconeri have the chance to overtake Inter at the top of the table. Or the Nerazzurri can extend their lead to five points.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Inter Focusing On Themselves Ahead Of Juventus Clash

Looking ahead to the Derby d’Italia, Mkhitaryan said that “It will be an important match.”

“We just have to focus on how we want to play and win it,” he went on.

“We know that it could determine who’s top of the table,” Mkhitaryan noted.

As far as what the Bianconeri’s strong point is, the former Arsenal and Manchester United midfielder was coy.

“That’s not for me to say,” he said in response.

“We’re just focusing on our own game,” he added.

And of the team’s continued good form this season, Mkhitaryan said that “Already at the start of the season I said that this was the continuation of last season.”

“We’ve grown as a team,” he went on. “As a dressing room, in terms of presence and tactics.”

“We’re making the difference, but we know that every match is difficult.”

Mkhitaryan said that “We’ve changed half the team, but we’ve shown that we’re always calm. And we’ve given a big hand to the new arrivals.”
