There are no alarm bells regarding the fitness of Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani after he missed yesterday’s match against Frosinone.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 21-year-old’s thigh injury is nothing more than a minor muscle strain.

Asllani was not in the matchday squad for yesterday evening’s Serie A clash.

The former Empoli midfielder had seemingly been ready to be on the bench for the match. The initial team news in no way indicated that he would be absent.

But just minutes prior to kickoff, Inter announced that Asllani would withdraw from the squad.

The club stated that the reason for Asllani not being in the squad was a thigh strain.

No Alarm For Inter Midfielder Kristjan Asllani – Just A Minor Thigh Strain

Naturally, Asllani pulling out of the squad raised one or two worries about the Albanian’s condition.

So far this season, Asllani has not missed a matchday squad through injury.

But evidently the 21-year-old had picked up a problem in the buildup to yesterday’s match which was sufficient to keep him off the pitch.

So far this season, Asllani has made just one start. But he has been a regular off the bench in the second half of matches, typically replacing Hakan Calhanoglu in a like-for-like substitution.

The timing of Asllani’s injury means that he will have plenty of time to recover.

The international break has begun.

It remains to be seen whether Asllani will pull out of the Albanian national team squad. In this case he could stay behind and train with the Nerazzurri squad.

In any event, however, it does not look as though the injury to Asllani will be a long-term worry for the midfielder.

In all likelihood, he should be back in condition to be in matchday squads after the international break.
