Ex Inter Milan Striker Praises France FIFA World Cup Finalist: ‘He Breaks Down Defenses’

Christian Vieri feels that Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is a player who is capable of “breaking down defenses.”

Speaking on his talk show, via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri and Atletico Madrid striker praised the Frenchman for the impact that he has made at Inter so far this season.

Thuram has become a key player for Inter at the start of this season.

The 26-year-old joined on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.

And Thuram has exceeded all but the most optimistic expectations with the quality of his performances at the start of the campaign.

Far from needing a settling-in period, Thuram has looked like he’s been at Inter for nyears.

The Frenchman has shown a real rapport with his teammate.

Particularly striker and Inter captain Lautaro Martinez has benefited from playing alongside Thuram.

And the former Borussia Monchengladbach striker has not just worked well with his teammates.

Thuram has also been able to impact matches on a purely individual level.

The Inter striker possesses a combination of speed and dribbling ability that has made him a massive threat in one-on-one situations.

This is a quality that Inter have sometimes lacked in the past couple seasons. And Thuram’s presence has certainly unlocked matches of the kind that Inter may well have struggled in in the recent past.

“After a player of the quality of Lukaku left during the summer, I said to myself that Inter would have to sign a top centre-forward if they were going to win trophies,” Vieri said on his talk show.

“They signed Thuram,” he noted.

“I went to see him at the stadium, and saw how good he is at linking up with his teammates.”

“He’s a great, great player. He attacks the spaces in behind, breaks down defenses, and scores goals.”

“He has forged a great relationship with Lautaro, who’s been one of the best strikers in Europe since last season,” Vieri added.

Vieri said of Inter captain Martinez that “In the last two seasons, he’s made an incredible leap in quality.”
