Inter Milan Targeting Attacking Talisman Of Surprise La Liga Leaders Girona

Inter Milan are keeping Girona strike Artem Dovbyk in mind as a possible attacking target.

Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, report that the 26-year-old Ukrainian international is on the Nerazzurri’s radar as he leads the line for La Liga’s unlikely leaders.

Dovbyk has had something of an unassuming career up to this point.

The Ukrainian centre-forward came through the youth academy system of now-defunct club Cherkaskiy Dnipro.

He then played for another now-defunct club, FC Dnipro.

In 2017, Dovbyk got a move to Danish side Midtjylland. However, he failed to impress during his time in the Danish Super League bagging just one goal for Midtjylland and two on loan with SonderjyskE.

Therefore, in 2020 Dovbyk returned to the Ukrainian Premier League. He played for Dnipro-1, the pheonix club of his former side Dnipro for three seasons.

It was back in his home country that Dovbyk really began to find his form.

After two promising seasons for Dnipro-1, the Ukrainian really broke out last term.

The 26-year-old scored a total of 29 goals across all competitions for Dnipro-1.

This was enough to get Dovbyk a move to Girona in La Liga. And he has continued his upwards trajectory playing for the Catalan side.

After almost three months, Girona are at the top of the La Liga table.

This has obviously come as quite the surprise. Michel’s men are ahead of traditional giants in the Spanish top flight like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid.

Obviously there are questions about whether Girona can maintain this pace.

But the simple fact that they have made it this far at the top of the pile has won the admiration of may observers.

And whilst many players, mostly on the younger side have shone, Girona’s attacking talisman has been striker Dovbyk.

So far the Ukrainian has scored seven goals across his first thirteen matches in La Liga.

And according to SportItalia, one club who have been following the Ukrianian’s progress have been Inter.

The Nerazzurri are likely to have to make an attacking signing in the next couple of transfer windows.

Both of Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez are 34. Therefore, a depth signing will be needed.

And according to SportItalia, Dovbyk is among Inter’s targets.
