Only the formalities are left before Inter Milan extend the contract of midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that there will be a meeting with the player’s agent soon and that he could receive a new two-year deal.

At the moment, Mkhitaryan’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of next June.

The Armenian international signed a two-year deal with the club last summer to join on a free transfer from Roma.

Mkhitaryan will turn 35 during the current season. However, he has shown few signs of slowing down.

On the contrary, Mkhitaryan has been in excellent form.

The 34-year-old has been a key player in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven under Simone Inzaghi at the start of the season, as he had been throughout last campaign.

Mkhitaryan had played a key role in Inter’s run to last season’s Champions League final.

Given Mkhitaryan’s form and continued importance to the team, Inter do not see his age as a problem in the least.

The Nerazzurri want to extend the Armenian’s deal.

Only Formalities Left Before Inter Extend Contract Of Henrikh Mkhitaryan

And according to Tuttosport, Inter should be successful in their attempt to secure Mkhitaryan’s future past the end of the current season.

The newspaper report that there are only “formalities” left in talks.

Inter will meet with Mkhitaryan’s agent Rafaela Pimenta soon.

And the expectation is that the negotiations will go well.

Inter still consider Mkhitaryan an absolutely vital player in their squad, regardless of his age. And for his part, the player is happy at the Nerazzurri.

Mkhitaryan believes he is still at the right club considering his prominent place in Simone Inzaghi’s plans.

Therefore, there is little doubt that Inter will be able to convince the former Roma and Arsenal midfielder.

Moreover, Tuttosport reports, there is a good chance that, even despite Mkhitaryan’s age, Inter could hand him a new contract until the end of June 2025.
