Inter Milan wingback Juan Cuadrado has his sights set on a return against his former employers Juventus.

On September 26th, the Bianconeri will host the Nerazzurri in the Derby d’Italia. The two Serie A giants have emerged as the ultimate challengers for the Scudetto title this season.

As for Cuadrado, this will be a special occasion that he surely doesn’t want to miss.

The 35-year-old spent eight years serving the Old Lady. The Turin-based giants then opted against renewing his contract at the end of last season.

Thus, the former Fiorentina and Chelsea man accepted Inter’s proposal, joining Simone Inzaghi’s ranks.

But after making three appearances off the bench, the veteran sustained an injury that has kept him out of action for over two months.

Cuadrado made his return against Bologna last month but suffered a relapse that ruled him out yet again.

But according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, the wingback is working on overcoming his Achilles tendon inflammation and making his return in time for the grand showdown at the Allianz Stadium.

As the source explains, the Colombian international will be working separately until the end of the week. He will continue to train throughout the weekend to accelerate his recovery.

By the start of the new week, Cuadrado should rejoin his teammates in group training.

Then the technical staff will assess his condition to decide whether or not he’ll be fit enough to face his old club next weekend.
