Legendary Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro feels Inter Milan boasts the strongest squad in Serie A, but Milan and Napoli can still re-enter the Scudetto race.

Since the start of the season, the Nerazzurri have emerged as the ultimate favorites to win the league.

Simone Inzaghi’s men currently sit on top of the Serie A standings with 31 points. Their only missteps came in the shape of a defeat against Sassuolo and a draw with Bologna.

At the moment, Juventus is the only side that is managing to keep up with Inter’s pace. The Bianconeri are only a couple of points adrift.

Therefore, many consider the upcoming Derby d’Italia as a direct Scudetto showdown between the two favorites.

Nevertheless, Cannavaro believes that his two former clubs might not exclusively challenge for the title.

The 2006 Ballon d’Or winner leaves the door open for Milan and Napoli.

The two clubs have endured a rough patch since the start of the season. The Partenopei even sacked their manager Rudi Garcia and appointed Walter Mazzarri.

Yet, Cannavaro feels that either side can still mount a comeback and challenge Inter and Juventus for the Italian crown.

“No, Inter and Juventus aren’t the only Scudetto challengers,” argued the 2006 World Cup winner in an interview with Sport Mediaset via FcInterNews.

“The season is still long. Inter is the best-equipped team while Juventus are doing much better this season. However, Milan and Napoli can return to the race.”

Cannavaro is a native of Naples who represented Inter between 2002 and 2004 before signing for Juventus.

He made the switch to Real Madrid following the Old Lady’s relegation amidst the Calciopoli scandal but returned to Turin for a second spell between 2009 and 2010.
