Inter Milan are already planning to replace Juan Cuadrado in case he fails to overcome his injury concerns, identifying Tajon Buchanan as his heir.

The Nerazzurri signed the Colombian veteran on a free transfer last summer after ending his eight-year collaboration with Juventus.

However, the 35-year-old’s contributions have been limited to four second-half cameos thus far.

The former Fiorentina man has been suffering from an inflammation in the Achilles tendon for more than two months, raising concerns over his physical condition.

So according to Calciomercato, Inter Milan are already considering a replacement in January if Cuadrado’s injury problems persist.

The source claims that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has identified Tajon Buchanan as the ideal profile for the role.

The 24-year-old is enjoying a positive campaign at Club Brugge. He has thus far contributed with three goals and as many assists across all competitions.

The report believes the Nerazzurri might be able to snap up the Canada international for a fee that falls within the club’s current financial parameters. The same goes for his expected salary.

Inter Milan To Target Tajon Buchanan If Juan Cuadrado Fails To Overcome Injury Concerns

Buchanan primarily plays as an advanced winger but can also feature as a fullback. Therefore, he should fit well as a right wingback in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation.

At the moment Denzel Dumfries remains Inter’s ultimate first choice on the right flank. While Matteo Darmian has proven to be a competent backup, the versatile Italian mostly features as part of the back-three nowadays.

Therefore, the club needs Cuadrado to regain his fitness as soon as possible and cover for Dumfries when necessary. Otherwise, the Nerazzurri will explore their options as early as January.

The Colombian will be hoping to make his return to action this weekend against his former club Juventus.
