Inter Milan are thinking about making a signing during the January transfer window as Juan Cuadrado continues to deal with fitness problems.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908.

Cuadrado’s fitness issues are certainly no longer a minor concern.

On the contrary, the Colombian has spent the majority of the season unable to play or train normally due to tendon problems.

Having come off the bench in each of the Nerazzurri’s first three matches of the season, Cuadrado has made just one substitute appearance since then.

The former Juventus and Chelsea man played half an hour against Bologna.

Other than that, Cuadrado has been unable to provide a viable deputy to Denzel Dumfries on the right flank.

Inter Consider January Signing Amid Juan Cuadrado Fitness Problems

The fact that Cuadrado has been unable to back up Dumfries has been quite a headache for Inter.

The Dutchman has had a couple of fitness issues of his own.

It is hardly viable for Dumfries to start match in and match out in the highly physically demanding wingback role.

Meanwhile, it is uncertain how much Matteo Darmian can full in for Dumfries.

The reason for this is that the former Manchester United veteran has had to play in defense.

An injury to Benjamin Pavard has meant that Darmian is first-choice on the right of the back three for the foreseeable future.

This situation means that Inter’s entire right-hand side is looking a little light.

And the problem is that, whilst Pavard will return eventually, there are doubts about Cuadrado.

The 35-year-old is not necessarily suffering from a major injury.

But the tendon problems that have been causing Cuadrado have been persistent.

The Colombian has not managed to return in any of the matches over the past few weeks that had seemed like potential opportunities for him to do so.

FCIN1908 note that there is not chance of Cuadrado starting against his old side Juventus this weekend.

At most, the 35-year-old will be able to be on the bench.

And even after that, there is little reason at the moment to think that Cuadrado will be reliable.

So Inter are increasingly considering intervening in the transfer market. They will see how things go with Cuadrado in the next few weeks.

But if the wingback’s fitness doesn’t improve significantly and rapidly, there would be every chance of a new player arriving in the right-wingback position in January.
