Inter Milan will be looking to capitalize on their Champions League participation to lure Porto striker Mehdi Taremi.

The 31-year-old has been a transfer target for the Nerazzurri since the summer. However, the Italian giants weren’t able to finalize a move before the end of August.

The same goes for their crosstown rivals AC Milan who tried to secure the signature of the Iranian international until the final hours but were equally unsuccessful.

But while Porto held firm last summer, refusing to part ways with the player on a relatively low fee, the situation will be drastically different next June.

Taremi’s contract will expire at the end of the season. Therefore, the forward will be free to sign for a new club on a Bosman deal.

So according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Taremi has suitors in the Saudi Pro League who will be willing to offer him astronomic wages.

While Inter won’t be able to match such financially lucrative offers, the Italian giants will be counting on Champions League football to present themselves as a more attractive destination.

Inter Milan Relying On Champions League Football To Attract Porto Striker Mehdi Taremi

The Nerazzurri are currently leading the Serie A table with 31 points after 12 rounds. Therefore, fans and observers alike expect Simone Inzaghi’s men to finish in the Top Four at the end of the season.

This would subsequently secure the club’s spot in Europe’s elite club competition.

Thus, the Beneamata are hoping that Taremi would choose to play in the Champions League above his financial interest.

The forward has thus far made 16 appearances for Porto across all competitions this season. He contributed with three goals and as many assists.
