The president of the Albanian Football Federation believes Kristjan Asllani made the right decision by staying at Inter Milan.

The 21-year-old had his breakthrough at Empoli, earning himself a transfer to Inter in the summer of 2022.

But after struggling for playing time in his maiden campaign at the Giuseppe Meazza, some expected the youngster to embark on a loan move this season.

Nevertheless, the midfielder was eager to prove his worth with the Nerazzurri. Thus, he refused all offers in the summer and remained at Appiano Gentile.

While he’s yet to lock himself a starting spot, Asllani is seeing more minutes this season. He has thus far made six appearances in Serie A and four in the Champions League, including one as a starter.

Therefore, the president of the Albanian FA Armand Duka admits that the player made the right call, even if he was skeptical at first.

“Kristjan is another jewel of ours. We are lucky to have him,” said Duka in his interview with Sportitalia via FcInterNews,

“Asllani has incredible potential. He has what it takes to get to the top. This includes high technical skills, a strong character and the right determination. He has improved a lot this season.

“Obviously, I would like Kristjan to play more minutes with Inter and I think his time has already come.

“He deserves to have more playing time, with the characteristics he possesses.

“Until a few months ago, however, I thought he was It was better for him to leave Inter to have more space.

“But now, watching his growth, I think he has to continue to improve there. Soon enough, he will be an important player for Inter as he is for the national team.”

Asllani has established himself as a pillar for Albania who booked their place in Euro 2024.
