Inter Milan could move to sign Spezia-owned wingback Emil Holm next summer if Atalanta don’t make his loan move permanent.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

At the moment, 23-year-old Swedish international Holm is at Atalanta on a season-long loan. He joined the Bergamo-based team during the summer transfer window.

Holm joined La Dea following Spezia’s relegation to Serie B.

The Swede had impressed playing for the Ligurians despite the fact that they dropped down a division,.

And Atalanta have the option to make Holm’s deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

They can do so by paying Spezia a fee of around €8 million.

But there is little certainty that La Dea would be ready to trigger this option.

That is because so far this season Holm has not featured regularly for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

Therefore, Holm could be back at Spezia next summer.

But there would be little chance of the 23-year-old remaining there for long. Particularly considering that the Ligurians are currently at risk of relegation to Serie C.

Inter Could Move To Sign Emil Holm If Atalanta Don’t Make Loan Permanent

Inter had also shown an interest in signing Holm during the summer.

The Swede had been among the Nerazzurri’s targets to replace Raoul Bellanova.

In the end, Inter went a very different route. They decided to sign veteran former Juventus and Chelsea wingback Juan Cuadrado on a free transfer.

But Cuadrado only signed a one-year deal.

And there are already doubts regarding whether the Colombian will stay beyond the end of his current contract.

Therefore, Inter are considering their options for a possible new signing in the position as early as next summer.

And if Atalanta do not sign Holm on a permanent basis, they could move.

Spezia will not have a great deal of leverage in negotiations should they remain in Serie B – as looks likely. Even less so if they are relegated to Serie C.

Therefore, Inter could aim to sign Holm for a lower fee than the €8 million which the Ligurians had asked for as a purchase option in the summer.

If the Swede were to cost closer to €4-5 million, then the Nerazzurri would think about a move,
