Inter Milan and Denzel Dumfries are negotiating a new contract, but have yet to agree over a salary.

The Dutchman has now established himself as a key figure in the starting formation, offering valuable contributions at both ends of the pitch.

However, the wingback’s contract expires in 2025. Therefore, the management is eager to extend his deal to avoid losing his services for a relatively low fee this summer or as a free agent in the following year.

But according to FcInterNews, a figure of around one million euros still separates the two parties in the ongoing negotiations.

As the source explains, Dumfries is requesting a pay rise from 2.6 million euros to 4.5 million.

On the other hand, Inter’s offer currently stands at 3.5 million euros.

Nevertheless, the report expects the two sides to bridge the gap and settle for a salary of circa 4 million.

This would be a similar case to Federico Dimarco’s contract negotiations. The source reveals that the Italian has agreed with the club over a contract renewal. All that’s missing is the signatures on the paper.

Inter Milan And Denzel Dumfries Could Find A Compromise Over The Player’s Salary

The report also adds that the Netherlands international continues to attract interest from abroad. However, no suitor has made a concrete approach to date.

But in any case, Inter would like to secure the player’s future with a contract renewal before deciding whether or not to succumb to sale temptations.

This season, Dumfries has contributed with two goals and four assists across all competitions.
