Inter Milan have reportedly reignited their negotiations with Porto striker Mehdi Taremi who will be a free agent this summer.

The 31-year-old was one of the main names on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist last summer.

However, the Serie A giants couldn’t put the deal over the line. Instead, they signed Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic as their backup strikers.

Nevertheless, the bomber remains on the club’s wish list, especially with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

According to Calciomercato, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has re-established contacts with the player’s entourage.

The Nerazzurri director has reportedly learned about the striker’s interest in the club’s project.

The source adds that the Italian giants are vigorously working on snatching the player’s services on a free transfer in the summer.

The Beneamata would like to make the 31-year-old their latest Bosman coup. In recent years, the club signed the likes of Marcus Thuram and Hakan Calhanoglu on free transfers.

As the report notes, Taremi would offer new tactical and technical solutions for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

The source insists that Inter have a good chance of landing the Porto striker in June.

On the other hand, AC Milan have reportedly drifted away in the race for the Iranian’s services.

The Rossoneri came close to signing Taremi in the final days of the last summer’s transfer session.

But as the report notes, Taremi didn’t like how the negotiations with Milan unfolded, which may explain why the Diavolo dropped behind in the race.
