Former Juventus, Napoli, and Sunderland midfielder Emmanuele Giaccherini feels that this Inter Milan time are better than the AC Milan of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.

The 38-year-old spoke to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, praising this Nerazzurri side.

Inter’s strong start to the season could start to put the question of where this team rates in a historical perspective,

Naturally, it is still far too early to really say anything.

There is still more than half of a league season left to go. And the Nerazzurri have yet to play in either domestic cup competition, whilst the Champions League group stage is still ongoing.

However, just in terms of the points Inter have amassed, it has been right up there with the best recent Serie A seasons.

There are other Inter teams in the past couple seasons where the comparisons could be made.

Then there are imperious seasons by the likes of Milan, Juventus, Napoli, and Roma.

And in the view of former midfielder Giaccherini, there is one great Rossoneri season in particular which this Inter compares favourably to.

Giaccherini: This Inter Better Than AC Milan Of Ibrahimovic & Thiago Silva

Giaccherini was asked to give his thoughts between this Inter and the Milan team of the early 2010s featuring the likes of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Thiago Silva.

“For me, Inter are stronger,” he argued.

“We saw that last season as well.”

The former midfielder noted that “They’re a team that reached the Champions League final and fought to the end with Manchester City, who are the best team in the world.”

“This season there’s more awareness of what they’re capable of,” he argued.

“I think a large part of that’s due to reaching the Champions League final.”

GIaccherini observed that “Milan were a strong team. “Full of top players.”

“But they didn’t have this compactness in every position.”

“The feeling is that the Rossoneri were missing a little something.”
