The Roman newspaper explains that the Nerazzurri squad has the highest average age in Serie A (28).
However, one wouldn’t notice it based on the team’s high tempo, especially in the second half. Last weekend’s 3-0 rooting of Napoli serves as a prime example.
The source describes the four veterans as “stainless” senators as they remain solid and fresh despite their age and an elevated number of playing minutes this season.

Yann Sommer joined the club in the summer following a brief stint at Bayern Munich. The Swiss has been able to fill the void left by Andre Onana.
As for Francesco Acerbi, he joined the Nerazzurri in 2022 before making his switch from Lazio permanent this year. The veteran defender has been a rock at the back in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation.
Moreover, Matteo Darmian continues to cover in various roles, establishing himself as one of the most reliable players in the squad.
Finally, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has thus far managed to ward off competition from the younger Davide Frattesi to preserve his starting berth in the middle of the park.
