Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi expects his team will need to be at their best to beat a top-quality Real Sociedad side tomorrow.

The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of the Champions League group stage clash.

Inter have already come up against La Real on one occasion this season.

That match was a 1-1 draw.

But the result flattered Inter somewhat in truth. The Nerazzurri had looked second best for the majority of the match, before they secured a point via a Lautaro Martinez equalizer after a late onslaught.

La Real may have only been the pot four team in Inter’s group.

But the La Liga team have proven to be by far the Nerazzurri’s most formidable rivals.

Inter have seen off the likes of Benfica and Red Bull Salzburg. But so far they have not beaten La Real.

So tomorrow will represent an important opportunity for Inzaghi’s team to show that they can see off even such a formidable opponent.

Inter Coach Inzaghi Praises Real Sociedad, Expects Tough Match

“Real Sociedad are an excellent team,” Inzaghi said.

“We’ve already faced them away,” he noted. “We prepared for that match very well, but it was still really tough.”

“They have continuity, and are a well-coached team with excellent players,” Inzaghi noted.

“We’ll need to play an excellent match.”

“We’ll need to have the same attitude that we always do, particularly considering we’re coming up against an excellent team.”

“They’re unbeaten in the Champions League,” he noted.

“And they’ve also only lost three matches in the league.”

“They’ve already played 23 matches this season. They’re an opponent we’ll need to be at our best at against.”

Inzaghi gave the view that topping the group would be important “First of all for the prestige it gives to the club and fans.”

“And then clearly in terms of the draw for the next round,” he noted.

The coach observed that “If we win we’ll have the opportunity to play at home in the second leg. And also get an easier draw potentially.”
