Inter Milan are weighing up a move for Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri could use their resale clause on the 26-year-old to sign him ahead of the likes of AC Milan, Roma, and Nottingham Forest.

At the moment, Inter have a firmly-established Number One in the form of Yann Sommer.

The 34-year-old ex-Bayern Munich keeper has been in very good form at the start of the season.

But the fact remains that Sommer is in his mid-thirties. The Nerazzurri will have to have a replacement lined up for the Swiss international sooner or later.

Emil Audero is also at Inter on loan from Sampdoria at the moment.

But there is no guarantee that the Nerazzurri will make the 26-year-old’s loan move permanent at the end of the season.

Therefore, it seems likely that Inter will sign a goalkeeper in the near future. More than likely, as early as next summer.

Athletico Paranaense’s Bento is one player very much on Inter’s radar.

The Nerazzurri have been actively pursuing the Brazilian since last summer. Bento would cost around €15 million.

But the major doubt with the Paranaense keeper would concern his adaptation to European and Italian football.

Inter Could Try To Bring Back Michele Di Gregorio From Monza

One keeper for whom no such doubt would exist is Monza keeper Di Gregorio.

The 26-year-old now has more than a full season of Serie A football under his belt.

Di Gregorio is an Inter youth academy product.

But the keeper left the Nerazzurri to join Monza on a permanent basis last summer. He had previously spent two seasons on loan with the Brianzoli in Serie B.

Di Gregorio’s performances for Monza have been excellent in the top flight.

The former Inter keeper has more than played his part in keeping the Lombard team in a comfortable midtable position.

So in form has Di Gregorio been that, according to the Gazzetta, Inter are looking at him as a possible long-term successor to Sommer in goal.

And Inter have a potential ace up their sleeve. Namely, there is a sell-on fee in the deal that initially saw the 26-year-old join Monza from the Nerazzurri last summer.

This could allow Inter to obtain a favourable transfer fee to sign Di Gregorio.

Meanwhile, the likes of Roma, AC Milan, and Nottingham Forest are all keen on the Italian, reports the Gazzetta.
