The dates of the Italian Super Cup have been changed yet again, thus affecting the Serie A schedules for Inter Milan and the rest of the competitors.

This will be the first expanded edition of the competition. While the original format used to pit the Scudetto winner with the club that lifted the Coppa Italia. the runners-up have now joined the fray.

The small tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia. However, the organizers have once again altered the dates.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the fixtures will now be played between the 18th and 22nd of January.

The original plan was to run the competition between the 4th and 8th of January. The organizers then delayed it to the 21st until the 25th of January.

But as the source tells it, the latest change suggests that Napoli and Fiorentina will play the first semi-final on January 18th. On the following day, Inter and Lazio will clash heads in the second semi-final.

The winners will then lock horns in the final on Monday, January 22nd.

Italian Super Cup Changes Will Affect Inter Milan’s Serie A Schedule

As the report reveals, the total prize money of the competition will reach 23 million euros. The winner will collect 7 million euros.

Inter Milan enter the competition as last season’s Coppa Italia winners. They have clinched the two most recent editions of the Super Cup.

GdS explains how the new dates will affect Inter and their Scudetto fight against Juventus.

Simone Inzaghi’s men have a Serie A fixture scheduled against Atalanta on January 21st. The Beneamata will have to play this match in a later date between February and March.

The source believes that this could give Juventus the change to overtake Inter in the standings and pile more pressure on the Nerazzurri.
