Inter Milan have reportedly identified Tajon Buchanan as the ideal profile to replace Juan Cuadrado on the right flank.

The Colombian has been haunted by an Achilles tendon problem since September. He tried to make his return to the pitch on two separate occasions, only for the inflammation to resurface.

On Friday, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed that Cuadrado will have to undergo surgery to fix this issue.

Thus, the veteran will spend several months on the sidelines, leaving Simone Inzaghi short of options on the right lane.

During the same appearance, Ausilio left the door open for a new arrival in January.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, the directors will discuss their plans with club president Steven Zhang at the start of next week.

The management will be looking to understand if Suning are willing to provide the club with fresh transfer funds to spend in January.

In this case, the Italian giants will be seeking a winger who acts as a like-for-like replacement for Cuadrado.

Buchanan has now emerged as Inter’s favorite profile for the role.

The 24-year-old currently plays for Club Brugge. His contract with the Belgian club is valid until the summer of 2025.

The Canada international is mainly a winger, but like Cuadrado, can cover various roles on the right flank.

This season, he has contributed with three goals and as many assists across all competitions.

Buchanan also has 35 international caps to his name, scoring four goals in the process.
