Inter Milan icon Giuseppe Bergomi notes that beating Juventus in the league is never an easy task.

This proved to be a fruitful weekend for the Nerazzurri who consolidated their lead on top of the Serie A table.

Simone Inzaghi emerged victorious against his former employers Lazio by two unanswered goals from Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

Thus, Inter took full advantage of Juve’s draw against Genoa to extend the gap to four points.

Bergomi praised Inzaghi who’s taking the best out of his squad while rotating between the ranks.

“A team has to be aware of its own strength,” noted the 1982 World Cup winner in his appearance with Radio Anch’io Lo Sport via FcInterNews.

“At Inter, this was born at the end of last season, when Inzaghi made deep rotations once he had Lukaku and Brozovic available. He involved everyone.

“He has the strongest squad, but he did well to make all the players perform at their best. Their average age is among the highest in the league. The question is whether they can last because they’re making a great effort.”

Bergomi returned to discuss the recent draws against Juventus and Real Sociedad. He argues that beating the Bianconeri is never easy.

“Beating Juventus in the league is always difficult, they don’t leave you any space.

“Last year in the league, Inter lost both matches by attacking the Bianconeri. But this time, Inzaghi wanted to avoid defeat.

“With Real Sociedad, in my opinion, there was a need for rotation. The two strikers behind Martinez and Thuram are lagging behind but we must also rest the striking duo.

Finally, Bergomi praised Lautaro Martinez who’s taking his game up a notch this season.

“The captaincy and responsibilities don’t weigh on Lautaro. He has made a leap in quality from a mental perspective.

“In the past, he used to lose his head every now and then. Today he knows he is useful even when he doesn’t score goals. He has become a true captain.”
