Defender Benjamin Pavard will get minutes from the bench in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia match between Inter Milan and Bologna.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Pavard is now fully back from his knee injury.

The Frenchman was part of Inter’s squad for Sunday evening’s Serie A win over Lazio.

However, Pavard played no part in that match. He was an unused substitute for the 2-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 27-year-old former Bayern Munich and Stuttgart defender was only just back in the squad after more than a month out recovering from a knee injury.

Pavard had sustained the injury during a Serie A match against Atalanta at the start of November.

The 2018 World Cup winner suffered the injury in a clash of knees with La Dea forward Ademola Lookman.

Benjamin Pavard Set To Get Minutes From The Bench For Inter Vs Bologna

Sooner or later, of course, Pavard will return to the pitch, of course.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi decided against using the Frenchman against Lazio over the weekend.

Yann Bisseck had started that match in Pavard’s preferred position on the right side of the back three.

And given that Inter were in a comfortable position in that match after Lautaro Martinez had put them ahead towards the end of the first half, the coach saw little reason to put Pavard on the pitch.

But according to Sky, tomorrow will be the day that Pavard finally gets back out on the pitch.

The Frenchman will not start against Bologna.

But Sky report that he will come on at some stage.

Pavard’s role will not likely be that significant. It could just be for a handful of minutes towards the end of the match.

But one way or the other, Inzaghi intends to use the Coppa Italia round of sixteen clash as a chance to give Pavard a run-out so he can start feeling his way back into the team.
