Inter Milan currently lead Juventus and West Ham United in their pursuit of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski on a free transfer next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that Napoli could still attempt to keep hold of the Pole, but the Nerazzurri are keeping a close watch.

At the moment, Zielinski’s contract with Napoli runs out at the end of next June.

The Partenopei are still trying to convince the 29-year-old to sign a new deal.

But so far, the response from Zielinski has been negative.

Therefore, Inter are sensing a possible opportunity.

Signing a player in Zielinski’s circumstances would certainly represent a major coup for the Nerazzurri.

The Pole has extensive Serie A experience. He has over four hundred appearances in the Italian top flight, having joined Napoli in 2016 and prior to that played for the likes of Udinese and Empoli.

And Zielinski’s quality is hardly in question, The 29-year-old was a key man for Napoli as they won the Serie A title last season.

Lastly, Zielinski would arrive still in his peak, rather than as an aging veteran.

Inter Lead Juventus & West Ham United In Race To Sign Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski

According to the Corriere, Napoli are still hoping that they can convince Zielinski to make a U-Turn and commit his future by signing an extension past the end of next June.

The reigning Italian champions have started up talks with the Pole’s representatives once again.

But the big question could be whether Napoli will be willing to raise their offer.

So far, Zielinski and his representatives have given the Partenopei a firm no due to the club’s failure to equal his current wages with the offer of an extension.

And if the 29-year-old does decide to leave at the end of the season, the Corriere report that Inter are the club in the strongest position to sign him.

Juventus are also interested. And Premier League club West Ham United consider Zielinski a target.

But at the moment, Inter are the club to have done the most legwork with respect to a move.
