Inter Milan have identified Tajon Buchanan as the ideal player to bolster the right flank and are now preparing an onslaught for January.

The Nerazzurri are searching the market for a new right wingback to replace Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian underwent surgery this week and will be unavailable for several months.

In recent weeks, Buchanan emerged as the favorite for the role.

The 24-year-old is a Canadian international who has been at Club Brugge since January 2022.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter are hoping to seal the deal through an initial loan offer with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri tried to sign the winger almost a year ago, but the Belgian club requested around 17 million euros at the time.

However, the player’s contract will expire in the summer of 2025 and he has no intention of signing a renewal. Therefore, Brugge may end up consenting to a lower bid.

The Serie A leaders hope to close the operation at around 7 or 8 million euros.

Nevertheless, the management needs the backing of club owners Suning who will have to give the green light for the operation.

Di Marzio adds that Buchanan is also appreciated at Manchester City. However. the Canadian has given his preference to Inter who have been tracking him for a year.

On another note, the journalist insists that the Nerazzurri won’t add a new striker in January.

Inter brought in Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic in the summer as backups for Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

Di Marzio believes the club will keep faith in the veteran duo at least until the end of the season.
