Inter Milan remain in the lead for Tiago Djalo even though Juventus are looking to overtake their rivals in January.

The 23-year-old’s contract with Lille will expire at the end of the season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInter1908) believes the Nerazzurri remain the favorites to sign the defender on a free transfer in June.

Yet, the Bianconeri are reportedly attempting an overtake next month.

The pink newspaper believes the Turin-based giants are willing to offer Lille two or three million euros to part ways with the Portuguese in January.

The source adds that Djalo is now reflecting on his future. He knows that Lille could freeze him out of the squad until the end of the season if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

Therefore, the centre-back could jump at the opportunity to leave the French club next month.

So while Inter remain in the lead, the report envisions an interesting battle for his services between the two Derby d’Italia rivals. Atletico Madrid could also enter the fray and make it a three-horse race.

Inter Milan Remain In The Lead For Tiago Djalo But Juventus Looking To Thwart Their Plans

Djalo has been on Inter’s shortlist for quite some time now. The Italian giants considered him a possible replacement for Milan Skriniar last season. However, the Portuguese defender sustained an ACL injury in March. He has been out of action ever since.

Djalo started his career at Sporting Lisbon and even spent a brief spell at AC Milan’s Primavera.

He then joined Lille in the summer of 2019 and established himself as one of the most promising defenders in Ligue 1.
