Inter Milan are at work to strike a deal with Porto star Mehdi Taremi who will be a free agent by the end of the season.

This morning, some circulating reports tipped the Nerazzurri to make an attempt to sign the Iranian as early as January, especially if Alexis Sanchez were to leave the club.

But according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto via FcInterNews, the Italian giants will wait until June to finalize the operation.

The 31-year-old will stay at Porto for the remainder of the season, with the Portuguese club eager to maintain his services.

Once his contract expires, he would be free to the Nerazzurri on a Bosman deal.

The Iran international has been a target for the Serie A giants since the summer. However. a transfer never materialized, so they ended up signing Marko Arnautovic instead.

This season, Taremi has contributed with five goals and three assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Moretto believes Inter have no plans to add a new attacker in the middle of the season. Instead, the management is solely focused on adding in a new wingback.

Giuseppe Marotta and company will be looking to sign a replacement for the 35-year-old, with Tajon Buchanan emerging as the favorite.
