Legendary former Inter Milan defender Beppe Bergomi is surprised with the amount of “personality” he’s seen from defender Yann Bisseck.

Speaking on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the former defender suggested that he has “rethought” his initial assessment of the German.

Bisseck has finally gotten his chance to have a run of matches in the Inter starting eleven.

The 23-year-old had been more or less a bit part player during the first few months of the season.

But injuries to the likes of Stefan de Vrij, Benjamin Pavard, and Denzel Dumfries have handed Bisseck an opening.

And it is one that the German has taken with both hands.

Bisseck has put in a string of confident, composed performances. On both sides of the ball, the young defender has shown exactly the kind of front-foot style that makes him perfect for Simone Inzaghi’s back three system.

Bisseck has started against the likes of Udinese, Lazio, Bologna, and Lecce.

It was particularly in that latter match that the young German really showed what he can do.

Bisseck had scored his first ever goal for Inter in that match. He had already rattled the crossbar with another effort.

Bergomi “Rethinks” Yann Bisseck After Impressive Performances

Goals, however, are not Bisseck’s main job.

The German will of course aim to have his say in the opposition penalty area as often as he can for the rest of his Nerazzurri career.

But the thing that has really impressed has been how naturally Bisseck has fit in at the back.

It is not easy to find consistency playing in a role like Bisseck’s.

But the German has shaken off any early issues or lack of confidence.

Bergomi said that “I have to have a rethink about Bisseck.”

“He’s been doing so well in such a short period of time.”

“I didn’t think he could play his role with such personality,” the former Inter captain said.
