Inter Milan could reportedly part ways with Denzel Dumfries in the summer as part of an overhaul on the right wing.

The Dutchman is currently the undisputed first choice in Simone Inzaghi’s book for the right wingback role.

The Nerazzurri signed Juan Cuadrado in the summer to serve as his replacement. However, the Colombian’s campaign has been plagued by an Achilles tendon issue. He recently underwent surgery that will keep him out of action for several months.

Therefore, the Serie A leaders are working on finalizing a transfer for Club Brugge winger Tajon Buchanan. The Canadian could arrive next month to bolster Inzaghi’s ranks.

But according to Tuttosport va FcInterNews, Buchanan might not be a mere understudy for Dumfries, but a possible replacement in the future.

As the source tells it, the Nerazzurri are considering selling the Netherlands international in the summer.

The 27-year-old’s contract will expire in June 2025 and the two parties have yet to find a breakthrough in their negotiations.

Hence, Inter would prefer to sell Dumfries in the summer rather than run the risk of losing him for free a year later.

With Dumfries and Cuadrado out of the door, the Turin-based newspaper tips Buchanan for a pivotal role at the club.

Moreover, the young Mattia Zanotti could return to the club to act as a backup for the Belgian.

The 20-year-old is an Inter youth product who’s currently enjoying an impressive loan at St. Gallen in Switzerland.

The Italian has thus contributed with a goal and two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions this season.

Moreover, the versatile Matteo Darmian can always slot in on the right wing whenever required.
