Rising Inter Milan Defender The Favorite To Start Over Ex Bayern Munich Star In Genoa Clash

Inter Milan defenders Benjamin Pavard and Yann Bisseck are vying for a starting berth against Genoa. The latter is currently the slight favorite.

The Nerazzurri will travel to Liguria for their final fixture of the year. They will lock horns with the Grifone at the Luigi Ferraris on Friday night.

According to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews, Simone Inzaghi has already decided his starting line-up, expect for one spot.

The Inter manager still has to choose between Bisseck and Pavard.

While this proved to be an easy choice at the start of the season, the German’s recent exploits have made it a welcome dilemma.

Bisseck hardly featured for the Nerazzurri in the first few months of the campaign. But when Pavard and others sustained injuries, the 23-year-old finally had the chance to prove his worth.

The Germany U21 starlet made the most out of his opportunities, putting together a series of impressive displays. He was also on the scoresheet against Lecce last weekend.

Therefore, the source believes that Bisseck is the slight favorite to maintain his berth at the back at the expense of Pavard who has recently made his return from injury.

The former Aarhus defender would start at the back alongside Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni. The Italian duo’s presence is undisputed.

On another note, the report rules club captain Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco out of the Ligurian trip.

Both stars sustained muscle strains last week. They still require additional time on the treatment table.

On the other hand, Denzel Dumfries could overcome his injury and earn a call-up. The Dutchman has been out of action since sustaining a knock at the start of December during the 3-0 win over Napoli.
