Genoa star Stefano Sabelli is looking forward to Friday night’s encounter against Inter Milan, while reserving special praise for Marcus Thuram.
The 30-year-old is an AS Roma youth product who represented the likes of Bari, Capri and Brescia before joining the Grifone in 2021.
The wingback has been an instrumental member of Alberto Gilardino’s tactical setup this season, making 15 Serie A starts thus far.
The Italian is relishing the challenge against the Nerazzurri. But he and his teammates fell confident after registering positive results against top Serie A sides at home this season.
Genoa smashed Roma by four goals to one, while registering draws against Napoli and Juventus.
Nevertheless, Sabelli admits that Inter have a formidable squad. He also lauds Thuram for his immense physical strength.
“We have already derailed strong teams this season. We hope this is a good omen for the match against the Nerazzurri,” said the Genoa wingback in his pre-match interview with Mediaset via FcInter1908.
“So far, the strongest players I have marked have been Kvaratskhelia and Leao, even though the latter only played for one half, fortunately.
“Inter have a complete squad. I believe Thuram is incredible from a physical perspective.”

Sabelli also revealed the best attributes of Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino.
“I have had many good coaches, so I have been lucky in this regard.
“As for Gilardino, I would focus on the person. We are talking about a coach who has important human qualities and incredible humility.
“Every day, he tries to convey to us what he experienced as a footballer.”
