Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is expecting a tricky match in this evening’s Serie A match away to Genoa.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, He also gave his thought on striker Marko Arnautovic.

This evening, Inter take on Genoa in their final match of 2023.

It’s been a busy calendar year for the Nerazzurri. After an up-and-down league campaign last season, Inter capped it off by winning the Coppa Italia and finishing as runners-up in the Champions League.

Seventeen matches into this season, Inter’s form in Serie A has been far more consistent.

The Nerazzurri have managed to build up a four-point advantage at this stage of the campaign.

They can temporarily make it seven if they are to get a win over Genoa. That would certainly put the pressure on second-place Juventus to take three points against Roma tomorrow.

But winning will not be easy for Inter against a Genoa team who have proven a formidable side in their first season back in Serie A.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Expecting Tricky Match Vs Genoa

“We’re facing a very tricky match,” Inzaghi said of facing Genoa.

“We’re coming up against a team who are in good form both physically and mentally.”

He noted that “They’re coming into this match off the back of some great results. So we’ll have to play a great match worthy of Inter.”

And the Inter coach also spoke about the situation with striker Arnautovic.

The 34-year-old former West Ham United and Stoke City forward has yet to score a goal in Serie A. But he has the chance to do so this evening, as he starts.

Inzaghi observed that “Strikers live for goals.”

“But at the same time, they need to do well in service to the team,” the coach continued.

Inzaghi said that “I don’t have any specific advice for him. All the forwards need to help the team play a great match.”
