Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that the criticism is something is used to, having even gone through it at Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He noted that he won over the Nerazzurri fans in the end despite some difficulties.

The past couple of years have been ones of big change and tumult for Onana.

A year and a half ago, the Cameroonian made the move to Inter.

He joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer after his contract with Ajax expired.

Onana didn’t slot straight into the Inter team. Rather, he was initially behind then-captain Samir Handanovic in the pecking order.

But in October, the Cameroonian got his chance.

And he took it with both hands.

Onana became the regular starter for Inter. And he put in a string of very impressive performances, particularly in the Champions League where he was vital to the Nerazzurri’s run to the final.

This earned Onana a big money move to Manchester United.

Things have not gotten off to the best of starts for the 27-year-old at Old Trafford. That is far from just the fault of the keeper – but Onana has had a few high-profile errors to answer for.

Man United Keeper Andre Onana: Faced Criticism At Inter Too

As the player himself is keen to note, though, he also had some difficulties at Inter.

Perhaps the spotlight wasn’t as harsh on the keeper during his less-convincing periods at the Nerazzurri.

But there were errors and difficult moments for Onana at the San Siro.

The 27-year-old managed to put those difficulties firmly behind him in Italy.

And now, the Cameroonian will be hoping to do the same thing in England.

Onana noted that “Mistakes are part of learning.”

“People expect a lot from me,” he continued.

“That’s why they criticize me so much.”

“But it’s not a problem for me,” Onana argued. “I’m used to criticism.”

“I also faced it at Inter,” the 27-year-old noted. “At the beginning I faced a lot of criticism.”

“Now look how it ended,” Onana made clear. “Aow it’s eternal love with Inter.”
