Aleixs Sanchez has made his desire very clear – he wants to stay at Inter Milan this month and get back to his best.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

35-year-old Chilean international Sanchez is currently one of four senior forwards in Inter’s squad.

Sanchez made the return to Inter during the summer transfer window. He did so on a free transfer.

Somewhat ironically, the former Manchester United, Arsenal, and Barcelona forward re-joined Inter just twelve months after he had left, having departed via a termination of his contract by mutual consent.

Sanchez had previously spent three seasons at Inter between 2019 and 2022.

The Chilean had joined Marseille for one season, where he had a prolific campaign. But at the end of his one-year contract with the Ligue 1 giants, Sanchez left and joined Inter.

So far this season, Sanchez has been largely a backup option for Inter.

The 35-year-old has played just over two hours in total in Serie A. He has yet to score or assist a goal in the league.

On the other hand, Sanchez has already scored twice in the Champions League.

The Chilean scored the opener in a 2-1 win over Red Bull Salzburg, perhaps his biggest contribution so far this season.

But apart from that, Sanchez has been firmly behind Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in the pecking order.

That has led to a bit of uncertainty about Sanchez’s future.

There is some transfer interest in the veteran forward for as early as next month. Teams in MLS and in the Saudi Pro League have made overtures.

But according to the Gazzetta, Sanchez has little interest in leaving Inter in the coming weeks.

The 35-year-old is still keen to see out the season with the Nerazzurri. He still feels that he has a contribution to make in the run-in of the season.

Then at the end of next June, Sanchez’s contract with Inter will expire.

He’ll make a decision on his future then – as will Inter. But as far as next month, the likelihood of Sanchez departing and Inter signing a replacement appears very low.
