Winger Tajon Buchanan has had a story full of twists and turns and incremental growth on his way to Inter Milan.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the 24-year-old’s journey, passing from Brampton, Ontario through a league title win in Belgium.

Buchanan was born in the city of Brampton, Ontario in Canada.

The young winger represents the Canadian national team, having won his first senior caps in 2021.

This will make Buchanan the first ever Canadian to play for Inter.

And it was in Brampton that Buchanan got his start, in life and in football.

At the age of seven, Buchanan sadly lost his father who passed away.

But the soon-to-be Inter player did not let this setback stop his progress.

Buchanan continued his growth with Brampton Youth, whom he joined when he was eight years old. Then, the Canadian went on to the Mississauga Falcons, winning IMG Cup in 2014.

Moves To The US & Belgium Next Steps For Tajon Buchanan

At the age of fifteen, Buchanan decided to make a big move.

The young Canadian join his best friend, and his friend’s father, former coach Chrys Chrysanthou, to Colorado.

Then, Buchanan became part of USSDA academy Real Colorado.

A move to Syracuse University followed, where Buchanan continued his footballing education and growth whilst also pursuing a university education.

Buchanan’s eye-catching performances for Syracuse earned him a professional move to Major League Soccer team New England Revolution in 2019,

There, the Canadian enjoyed two more years of impressive form.

Then, it was seemingly inevitable that the next step for Buchanan would be a move to European football.

It was Club Brugge who decided to place their faith in the Canadian.

In 2021 the Belgians signed Buchanan, sending him back on loan to Revolution for half a season. Then in January of 2022 Buchanan made his debut for Brugge.

In his first half-season for Brugge, Buchanan won the Belgian top flight title. He also started to get his first experience in the Champions League.

All of this helped prepare the 24-year-old to take the next step at Inter.

But it will be a big next step for Buchanan.

And the question will be whether or not the Canadian can take all the experiences he’s had so far, and use them to find his place at the Nerazzurri.
