Former Napoli midfielder Valon Behrami believes that Canadian international winger Tajon Buchanan can give Inter Milan a lot.

Behrami spoke on Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, praising Buchanan’s technical ability and dribbling as traits that can improve the Nerazzurri.

Inter have not wrapped up the signing of Buchanan from Club Brugge yet.

But reports suggest that the 24-year-old’s transfer is now not far away.

The Nerazzurri are ready to bring Buchanan in to reinforce their right flank.

This is the result of the long absence of Juan Cuadrado, as well as some persistent fitness issues for Denzel Dumfries.

But what is not quite certain yet is quite how Inter see Buchanan interpreting his role.

The Nerazzurri have signed quite a few players to play in the wingback positions under both Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi.

And each one has seemingly given the team a bit of a different kind of outlet.

For example on the right, Dumfries has given Inter an edge with his goalscoring runs. Meanwhile, Cuadrado’s strength is his creative passing and deliveries into the box.

So the question becomes, what kind of profile does Buchanan give Inter in the role?

Valon Behrami: Tajon Buchanan Great Dribbler, Can Help Inter

In the view of former Napoli midfielder Behrami, dribbling and one-on-one ball control are the qualities that really mark Buchanan out.

Behrami called the Canadian “A player who’s already done great things in MLS.”

“Brugge bet on him,” he continued. “And he’s doing very well there.”

“He can fit in at Inter,” the former midfielder said of Buchanan.

“He’s a fast winger, good at dribbling, very flexible because he can play in different roles.”

“He has a real eye for the attack. But he perhaps leaves something to be desired defensively compared to Dumfries.”

Behrami suggested that “He doesn’t have great vision of the game. He puts his head down and likes to dribble at the opponent.”

“He reminds me of Molina, even if at home they see him differently, more as a powerful player.”

“But I see him as a technical player, and also very skilled at dribbling,” Behrami said.

“He can help Inter a lot because the other wingbacks don’t have the kind of dribbling ability he has.”
