Inter Milan have made an approach to Mexican club UNAM about signing Peruvian international midfielder Piero Quisipe.

This according to Mexican news outlet Record, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri are at the head of the queue of European clubs keen on the 22-year-old.

Late last month, Mexican club UNAM completed a deal to sign Quisipe from Peruvian club Universitario.

The young Peruvian midfielder had shone across the past couple seasons for Universitario. He came through the youth academy of the Peruvian giants.

Quisipe has also made his debut for Peru’s national team.

The midfielder’s first cap came in 2022, and he has made a total of three appearances for the national team to date.

And now, Quisipe will have the chance to further prove himself in Liga MX.

But the Peruvian may not be playing in the Mexican top flight for long.

This is because of transfer interest in Quisipe from major clubs in Europe. There is a sense that the 22-year-old is close to being ready to make the jump to the European level.

Inter Approach UNAM About Signing Midfielder Piero Quisipe

According to Record, Inter have already contacted UNAM to register their interest in signing Quisipe.

Naturally, the Nerazzurri’s intent would not be to sign the Peruvian right away.

Quisipe only just made the switch to UNAM days ago. The Mexicans will wait to see how the young midfielder performs across the Liga MX season.

But Inter have started to lay the groundwork on a future deal for Quisipe.

Inter have a strong track record of signing players from South America in recent seasons.
