Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard should finally make his return to the starting formation after a long injury layoff.

The 27-year-old joined the Nerazzurri last summer, completing a transfer from Bayern Munich.

He swiftly established himself as a regular starter on the right side of Simone Inzaghi’s three-man defense.

However, the Frenchman sustained an injury during the encounter against Atalanta in Bergamo on the 4th of November.

The 2018 World Cup winner has recently made his return to the squad but has yet to feature from the start.

Pavard played for 30 minutes in the Coppa Italia defeat at the hands of Bologna. He also featured for seven minutes in aggregate in the Serie A fixtures against Lecce and Genoa.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the versatile defender will finally make his return to the starting lineup against Hellas Verona.

Inzaghi’s men will host the Gialloblu at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Saturday’s early Serie A kickoff.

The source expects Pavard to be in the backline, the same goes for club captain Lautaro Martinez who should overcome a muscle strain.

On the other hand, Federico Dimarco should return to the squad after recovering from a similar injury. However, the Italian is unlikely to book himself a spot in the starting formation.

The pink newspaper expects Carlos Augusto to continue to deputize for Dimarco on the left flank.

Finally, Hakan Calhanoglu has recovered from flu, so he should be available to start against Marco Baroni’s men.
