Sassuolo are reportedly looking to sign Stefano Sensi who has become surplus to requirements at Inter Milan.

The 28-year-old is a Cesena youth product who joined Sassuolo in 2016. After spending three campaigns with the Emilians, he signed for Inter in 2019.

But sadly for the midfielder, recurring injury problems have been haunting him ever since.

The Italian international spent 18 months on loan between Sampdoria and Monza but returned to Appiano Gentile in the summer.

However, he remains in a low position in Simone Inzaghi’s midfield pecking order. This season, he has only made four appearances between Serie A and Coppa Italia, and has yet to start a match.

While his contract will expire at the end of the season, Sensi is hellbent on leaving the club as soon as possible in search of playing time.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Sassuolo are willing to welcome him back with open arms in January.

The Neroverdi are enduring a woeful campaign, as they currently find themselves 16th in the Serie A, just a couple of points above the relegation zone.

Therefore, Alessio Dionisi’s squad could use some reinforcement, which could come in the shape of a returning player.

Sassuolo Are Ready To Welcome Back Inter Milan Midfielder Stefano Sensi

Sensi played 68 matches for Sassuolo between 2016 and 2019. He scored five goals in the process and provided as many assists.

The Urbino native is also an Italy international who has nine caps and three goals with the Azzurri.

The Cesena youth product is a midfielder capable of interpreting various roles. He can play as a deep-lying playmaker, box-to-box midfielder, or even behind the striker.
