Midfielder Davide Frattesi could start for Inter Milan in next weekend’s Serie A match away to Monza.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Frattesi has only made one start so far this season in Serie A.

The 24-year-old was in the starting eleven for a league match away to Empoli in September.

But other than that, there have been no league starts for Frattesi.

That does paint a slightly misleading picture of the Italian international’s involvement in the team, however.

For one thing, Frattesi has had much more of a role to play in cup competitions.

The former Sassuolo midfielder started in three out of Inter’s Champions League group stage matches. He also started in a Coppa Italia loss to Bologna last month.

Moreover, Frattesi has come off the bench frequently.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has frequently turned to Frattesi to inject some energy and physicality into the midfield battle during the second halves of matches, including in Serie A.

Davide Frattesi Could Start For Inter Vs Monza

Frattesi came off the bench to great effect over the weekend.

The 24-year-old had a real “super sub” cameo against Hellas Verona in Saturday’s Serie A win. He scored the winner in stoppage time of that match.

Frattesi showed just how much he can give the team with not just his goal, but also with his performance as a whole.

And the Italian international, it seems, will soon find himself starting more in the league. It is more a matter of “when” rather than “if.”

And that “when” could come as soon as this Saturday, according to Tuttosport.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is already thinking about rotating his squad a bit. There is a busy fixture list.

And Saturday’s goal against Verona was a sign that his time may have come.
